Blood Red Shoes Biography

Steven Ansell (drums/vocals) and Laura-Mary Carter (guitar/vocals) formed this UK indie rock band at the start of 2005 shortly after they had parted company with their previous projects, Cat On Form (Ansell) and Cat On (Carter). A string of independent 7-inch singles followed over the next two years, with "Victory For The Magpie", "Stitch Me Back"/"Meet Me At Eight", "ADHD" and "You Bring Me Down" demonstrating Ansell and Carter's love for primal guitar/drum-based music. The duo signed to V2 Records at the start of 2007, making their debut for the label in June with the blistering 7-inch single "It's Getting Boring By The Sea". In February 2008, they released their first digital single with a re-recorded reissue of "You Bring Me Down". With V2 having been taken over by Universal, Box Of Secrets was released in April via Mercury Records. The album featured re-recorded versions of several of the vinyl singles alongside new tracks that stuck close to the duo's limited but thrilling musical blueprint.
