UK-based indie pop band formed by Gerd Zinsmeister (vocals/guitar), Helen Seymour (bass/guitar), Meike (keyboards), and Tilo Pirnbaum (drums), with Seymour the sole non-German member. The quartet met while studying at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, and after graduation elected to stay in the city and form a band. Originally known as Wunderbar, the quartet changed its name to Sonnenberg at the start of 2006 and signed a contract with the Liverpool-based Probe Plus label shortly afterwards. Their debut, Fishing In The Pool, was a pleasant collection of folk and psychedelic tinged indie pop, with "Mersey Moon" and "Telephone Song" notable stand-out tracks.
